Alex J. Robinson at UpTown Country 2008Alex J. Robinson began singing at the age of eight in her hometown of Sudbury, Ontario. At 11 she came fourth in the Canadian Open Country Music Competition and returned the following year to take second place. Since then she has taken every opportunity to showcase her talent from singing anthems at the former Sky Dome to performing jingles for companies such as Tim Horton’s, Ford and McDonald’s. Robinson has even worked with SonyBMG performing demos from the Canadian Idol Songwriting Camp. Last September, she was the first unknown artist to perform at the Canadian Country Music Awards Gala luncheon. Since then, Breakin’ On The Love Thing, one of the songs she performed that day, cracked the top 20, (peaking nationally at number 16) when it was released as her first single to radio. Most recently, Alex is featured in the new Ontario Tourism commercial, playing on select stations across Canada. Alex lends her upbeat, youthful style and stellar country vocals to the There’s No Place Like This song. On March 7, 2008, at the Canadian Radio Music Awards, in conjunction with Canadian Music Week, Alex J. Robinson was the proud recipient of the FACTOR Breakthrough Artist of the Year Award. She is currently in rehearsals with her new band and is preparing to take her unique brand of modern country music to fans nationwide. Meanwhile, anticipation continues to build for Alex’s debut album, Never Say Never. Working with writer and producer Tim Thorney, she joins the likes of Canadian artists such as Alanis Morissette, Jimmy Rankin, Brian Byrne and Chisai Jackson. Never Say Never is set to release on March 25, 2008. |
